KPMG 2009 Global International Corporate Tax Turkish Conference was held at the Conrad Hotel International on Wednesday, 21 October 2009 with the participation of wide range of CEO's, CFO's and tax experts.
    KPMG's Turkish Member Firm Yetkin Yeminli Mali Musavirlik A.S. and its Global International Corporate Tax Team arranged an event that engages an international perspective on the current world economic conditions with a focus on the effect for Turkish companies.

    The day included a morning plenary session followed by lunch and afternoon Tax Technical Sessions. At the end of the day, special meetings were arranged upon the request of those clients who would like to meet with our tax experts from foreign countries.

    Plenary Agenda


  • Pleneary started with the keynote speech of Mr. Mehmet Şirin, The Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance.
  • A range of world-renowned experts reviewed the impact of the economic cycle on tax-raising governments and businesses, and looked ahead to the future of Tax, Crisis and regulation and the Tax function in businesses and governments.


  • Our Global Team shared international perspectives of hot issues and tracking industry hotspots and looked at the Impact for Tax on becoming a full member state of the EU, providing practical insights from EU Accession countries, we focused on sharing learnings and first-hand experiences of some challenges and how to overcome them.


  • High-level findings from a specially commissioned, in-depth KPMG research project on the size, monetary value, and key drivers of outbound international investment from Turkey were discussed and analysed.


  • Tulu Gümüştekin, Director General and Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Corporate and Public Strategy Advisory Group (CPS)gave a speech on taxation issues from EU perspective


  • Senior partners from our Dutch, German and Luxembourg firms offered insight into their tax systems, latest tax news and financial institutions.

  • Finally we looked Beyond 2009 and offered practical take-aways for our audience.


    Tax Technical Insight Sessions

    We offered a choice of three Tax Technical Insight sessions after lunch. Each session offered an interactive discussion focused on a specific topic. The choices included:

  • Tax Havens and the Obama Proposals: A look into what Tax Havens mean in 2009 and the proposed Obama legislation and what they may mean for the world economies.
  • Holding Company Finance and Intellectual Property in The Netherlands and Luxembourg: Discussion focused on doing business with these two jurisdictions and how it can impact your business


  • Investments with Germany: Explore the opportunities of working with Germany.
